The project will be conducted in the geographical area of the municipality of Tavira, Algarve.

Tavira is a municipality with 607 km2 (INE, 2004) and it is divided into nine administrative regions: Cachopo, Santa Catarina Fonte Bispo, Santa Maria, Conceição, Santa Maria, Santiago, Luz, Santa Luzia and Cabanas having a large number of villages with reduced human occupation.

The forest is one of the greatest symbols of nature existing in the municipality providing a diverse range of products and services with environmental, social and economic development value.

These products are strategic priority for the county. It can be mentioned: the cork production, olive oil production, the hunting activities, the harvesting of mushrooms, leisure activities, not underestimating the indirect resources such as: carbon sequestration, water quality, soil and enrichment of the landscape.
